The Salute Her initiative by the charity Forward Assist will help Women Veterans struggling with civvy street

“A lot of women don’t want to go along to male orientated situations. As one of them put it - men tend to talk about the past and women about the future - they have a different mindset.”

However over time the charity got more women staff on board and actively campaigned for ‘gender specific’ mental health interventions for women veterans.

Paula said: “Women veterans are a hidden population and have unique needs that are different to their male counterparts.

“The project will empower the women while giving them the opportunity to create a blueprint for the kind of services that would best help them adjust to civilian life.”
