A bully is someone who humiliates, intimidates, belittles, or oppresses another person. It can be an abuse of power that weakens and abuses someone, producing a hostile environment. Who can be an adult bully, you may wonder? Anyone, is the short answer. It is a person who engages in abusive dynamics in relationships.

There Are Five Types of Bullying:

Physical Bullying: This includes the use of any form of threat, injury, physical intimidation, or harassment.

Verbal Bullying: Verbal bullying is when someone uses words to degrade, humiliate, or threaten another person.

Tangible/Material Bullying: When someone exploits their position of authority to intimidate, threaten, or harass another person.

Convert Bullying: Covert bullying is when an individual appears friendly but engages in insidious activity in order to undermine a person, talk or spread stories about them, use cruel jokes about them, ridicule or embarrass them.

Cyber Bullying: Cyberbullying is the use of emails, messages, videos, online platforms, or social media to verbally, physically, or secretly bully another person.

What Are The Effects of Being Bullied?

Someone who is bullied may experience a variety of emotions, which can have a significant impact on their mental health and well-being. Someone who has been or is being bullied may have one or more of the following experiences:

Stress

Depression and anxiety

Feelings of worthlessness

PTSD

Low self-esteem or confidence issues

isolation or loneliness

Trouble with sleep

Difficulties forming new relationships/friendships

Bullying can have a significant negative impact on someone, and they may struggle to cope with certain aspects of their daily life. The individual may try to avoid situations where bullying happens, but in military service, this is nearly impossible.
